SYN:
The Stooges women - Pheba, Sheeba
and Heebah - will be sold to the Sultan of Posh Posh unless they each
pay a one thousand shillblana virgin tax within three days. Virgin
tax? What the heck is that? Oh well, anyway, in order to raise the
money Moe, Larry and Shemp serving as waiters at the Cafe Casbahbah,
promise two customers to recover the King Rootin' Tootin' diamond
from the Emir of Schmow. They'll be handsomely compensated with reward
money to pay of their sweetheart's taxes. Yes, virgin taxes! Disguising
themselves as Santa Claus' they sneak into the palace of the Emir
of Schmow's and get busy. Hey, I wonder if all of these Harem girls
are virgins? Ooops, back to the story. Knocking out two the Emir's
palace guards, the Stooges take control of the situation, and take
control of the Rootin' Tootin' Diamond. They are soon livin' in easy
street and are able to save the goils, and hopefully get married and
do something about the whole virgin thing.

Did you know that Rumpus in the Harem
was the first of four films made after Shemp's death, with Joe Palma
posing as Shemp in all of the new footage?
WT:
Diamond Daffy
(Scripted Dec. 12, 1955) / FN: A reworking of Malice
in the Palace (9/1/49), using stock footage. New scenes included:
Pheba, Sheeba and Heebah reporting to Moe and Larry their bad news.
Shemp (Joe Palma is conveniently missing) and he has left a note informing
the boys that their snoring kept him up all night, and since he couldn't
sleep, he went to open the restaurant early. Other new scenes include:
Moe, Larry and Palma merging for their traditional football huddle in
the restaurant and fleeing from a Nubian guard (not the same actor in
stock) right into a girl's harem. The gag of disguising as Santa Clauses
also appeared in Wee Wee Monsieur (2/18/38) and in Malice
in the Palace (9/1/49). Waiter chasing a dog past a customer waiting
for franks and beans is also used in Playing the Ponies (10/15/37)
and in Malice in the Palace (9/1/49). "Rootin' Tootin'"
is spelling in film's script.
