SYN:
The Stooges enter Dead Man's Gulch
to learn that the last six sheriffs were killed by Badlands Blackie
and his gang. Soon, the Stooges meet a girl named Nell at a local
blacksmith shop. She explains that her father is being held captive
and won't be released until she agrees to marry Badlands Blackie.
Out of an accidental act of braveness and/or stupidity, Curly is is
mistaken for a hero and becomes the town sheriff. He deputizes Moe
and Larry, and together, concoct a scheme that somehow saves Nell's
father and send Blackie and his boys packing.

Did you know that Dick Curtis' portrayal
of Blackie may be his finest role in a Stooges short. Usually cast
as a villain of ruffian, Curtis made apoplexy an art with his comic
timing. Curtis also played one of the doomed sailors in King King
(1933). Dic

Troubledoers was previewed in Compton, California, on January 11,
1946. Director Ed Bernds recalled that the audience response was only
fair and that it was poorest of his previews. Bernds also related that
Stooges' comedies were usually previewed at one of three theatres: The
Alexander in Glendale (now the Mann Alexander), The Tower in Compton,
and the California Theatre in Huntington Park.
