(A complete Videography of released Stooges Short-films)

As I mentioned in the Filmography section, this particular page will concentrate on the available short-films released and made available to the public by Columbia Pictures and the licensing companies. The Three Stooges were masters at what they did. When you become a master at your trade, you raise the expectations of everyone around you. In a way, this is good...the Stooges were able to release almost 100 short-films featuring Moe, Larry, and Curly in only 13 years. The down-side of this, is that you will often times make some mistakes along the way. In the Stooges case, it was more in the hands of the directors and the editors, but mistakes were definitely made. Most noteably when you're watching a great Stooges short-film and Moe decides he's going to poke Larry or Curly's eyes out, and you fail to hear the much needed sound effect representing the massive force behind the blow. On many occasions, I've even noticed in a fight scene where the editors will speed up the tape to make it look as if everything is happening faster than it really is. All of the sudden Moe, Larry, and Curly, become Alvin, Simon, and Theodore of the Chipmunks. There is even a short-film featuring Curly Howard where they accidently dubbed in Joe Bessers voice saying "Not so Hard". How cheesy can you get? Why am I bringing this to your attention? Well it's simple, although the Stooges films were great, they were not without error. This is probably why, you don't see all of the Stooges short-films on Video. At least this is my take on it.
